Multilingual Communications Tool
Design Sprint
The idea of a multilingual phrase book was submitted to the RNLI’s Open Innovation Platform by the Station Manager at Gravesend Lifeboat Station in Kent. This was in response to experiences of difficulties in communicating with non-English Speakers during rescue.
Facilitated by the RNLI Innovation team, a Design Sprint was conducted over three days. Â This included User Requirements Capture, Concept Development, Prototyping, Testing and iteration to produce Minimum Viable Products. The resulting products were presented to the End Users for feedback.
Findings are presented in the attached report. Feedback and comments are welcome.
The RNLI is now looking at the next steps for piloting some of the concepts.
